Even though Brazil is not really part of the global wine circuit (yet), and people who know a bit more about wine usually associate the country with its beautiful sparkling wines, this blend of Merlot—another variety that has adapted very well to Brazilian soil—and Cabernet Sauvignon is a delicious example of the well-balanced, full-bodied reds Brazil is producing.
If you buy a bottle with more than five years of Bacchus’ liquid resting inside, I strongly recommend opening it 30–60 minutes before enjoying it. The wine really benefits from a little time to breathe.
It’s best enjoyed with food, but it also works well on its own—especially if you appreciate those tannins slowly drying out the inside of your cheeks.
Nice to know we can find it here in Australia too.
Cheers!
